New Delhi: Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Saturday strongly condemned the alleged brutality by Delhi Police against women protesters over the course of the stir against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.
Taking to X, Gandhi wrote that the alleged acts by the police have crossed 'shameful limits' and that they amount to a conspiracy to silence voices.
"This is all part of that conspiracy to silence voices, where you scare them so much, humiliate them so deeply, that no one dares to raise questions again," he wrote.
Gandhi further said that the alleged violence unleashed by the police stems from the fear of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah over power slipping from their hands.
The Congress leader also posted a 10-minute video about his conversation with some young women protesters who were allegedly treated brutally by police during their recent protests.
The women demanded action against the police personnel, with Gandhi asking them to provide more evidence in the form of photos and videos so that cases can be filed against the cops.
